How to Build Your First Website UK BlackTech are back with their third workshop at part of the
UK BlackTech are back with their third workshop at part of the South London Innovation Corridor
In this session, we will take you through how to build your first website. This will include accessing templates and tips on getting the best design and functionality for your website in order to engage your users and drive conversion. Please bring your laptops. This session is also suitable for anyone who wants to improve a very basic website.
OneTech, UKBlackTech and Foundervine are joining forces to increase the support provided for aspiring tech entrepreneurs and start-ups in Lambeth, Lewisham, Southwark and Wandsworth. With funding support from the South London Innovation Corridor, the new programme will offer free opportunities for budding tech founders.
UKBlackTech will support the programme by offering events and bootcamps in South London. Our first event will aim to demystify the start-up world and explore what things you need to take into consideration when starting and sustaining a digital business.
These sessions will enable attendees to build their skills, education and networks around creating a successful tech business.
- Meet and Greet session
- Breakout sessions based on the stage the attendees are at with their digital business
- Fishbowl discussions
- Ted style talks from founders within local communities sharing their stories etc.

The South London Innovation Corridor is a partnership between four London boroughs to drive growth within the creative and tech industries in Lambeth, Lewisham, Southwark and Wandsworth. By delivering new business support, talent development and affordable workspace opportunities and ensuring that these opportunities are made available to people who are currently underrepresented in the creative and tech sectors, the South London Innovation Corridor seeks to help individuals, entrepreneurs, start-ups and growing businesses to reach their potential.

OneTech Founders Weekend is designed to help you form teams, build networks and launch your very own start-up.
We’re bringing you a **FULLY VIRTUAL** weekend of networking, business modelling, pitching and expert mentoring which means you can participate in the programme from wherever you are in London.
Be mentored by the best experts leading your team to success, create your very own network of innovators and meet and work with your future colleagues, co-founders, friends.
You’ll have the opportunity to shine in front of industry leaders by presenting your project on our virtual pitch day and walk away with the winning prize.
OneTech Founders Weekend is powered by Foundervine – an award-winning social enterprise helping entrepreneurs grow.
What happens at OneTech Founders Weekend?
Start & Finish: The Weekend will begin on Friday 17th April 2020 @ 18:00 and run until Sunday 19th April 2020 @ 18:00.
- Kick Off – Friday 17th April @ 18:00 – You’ll meet your new network, form teams, hear from established founders and start work on your business model. We’ll give you all the time you need to connect and network in our virtual breakout rooms.
- Day 2: Saturday 18th April @ 09:30 – You get to work on your ideas in your teams, gain expert mentoring on market validation, business modelling and product management from our expert speakers. We’ll also invite industry speakers to mentor you throughout the day.
- Day 3: Sunday 19th April @ 10:00 – You pitch in front of a panel of expert judges, win prizes and celebrate your achievements.You also network and mingle with our judges and speakers in our virtual breakout rooms.

Founders Weekend is open to you if you are:

How to Register
Registration is now open and closes on Wednesday 15th April . To apply for the programme, please fill out this form and you will soon receive joining instructions with all the details on what to expect and the resources you need to be ready to go on the day of the event.
Please note that the programme will be delivered fully virtually. You will therefore need:
- A laptop with a webcam so you can take part in sessions
- A good internet connection
- Lots of energy!
You’ll pitch your own idea or listen to others, then vote on the most interesting ideas and form teams with diverse skill sets. You can come with friends, but you’ll get the full experience if you participate in separate teams. Remember, it’s all about the team.
What Happens After OneTech Founders Weekend?
The best teams from Founders Weekend will be accepted into FoundersDoor powered by YSYS. The FoundersDoor pre-accelerator will equip you with the knowledge and experience needed to get your startup off the ground.

What are the full event timings?
- Day 1: 17:30* – 21:00
- Day 2: 09:00 – 17:30
- Day 3: 10:00 – 18:00
*Please note that registration is from 5:30pm – 6pm. We will kick off at 6pm sharp. We will send details on how to log in and register for the virtual room. If you will be late, no problem – just email us at firstname.lastname@example.org letting us know what time you will be coming. We advise joining the room no later than 7pm on Friday. Are there any age requirements to enter the event?
OneTech Founders Weekend is an event designed for budding and current entrepreneurs between the ages of 18-24 based in London.
Do I need to have an idea or be running a business to take part in the event?
No. Just have a passion for making a difference! Please note that your idea should be something you have not launched already so your team can help shape it.
Do I need business experience?
Absolutely not. The programme is open to anyone that is interested in using their skills in helping build something new and innovative, The programme is open to students, professionals and anyone else with a passion for business.
Do I need to have tech skills?
No, not essential. We welcome multi-disciplinary teams. Whether you have a background in business, tech, social development, charity or education, your skills can make a great contribution to a team.
Is OneTech Founders Weekend free?
Yes, the event is free to attend and is funded by OneTech supported by JP Morgan and the Mayor of London.

Thank you to all our mentors and mentees for sharing their interest in taking part on our 4th mentoring programme.
Our mentoring programme aims to support underrepresented tech founders from within the OneTech community. With 3 x 1 hour long sessions over 3 months, we want to encourage the building of relationships, a chance to share your ideas/startup and get real actionable advice to take you to the next level.
For all our matched pairings this is a chance to meet in person and start talking, network and meet other founders and industry experts.
