After an incredible five-year journey under the guidance of Capital Enterprise, we are excited to announce that OneTech has formally spun out as an independent organisation. From its inception as a visionary concept aimed at tackling the deep-rooted systemic inequality across the London Tech Startup scene, OneTech has evolved into a formidable force that is ready to chart its own destiny.

As of last year, we calculated that over the last 5 years we’ve run over 30 programmes and provided support to over 3000 aspiring entrepreneurs and individuals seeking job opportunities in tech startups. Together our start-ups have raised over £20m and created over 210 jobs. This represents a tremendous impact already, but there is still so much more to do.

By spinning out from Capital Enterprise, we will be able to scale the breadth and depth of our impact even further, while preserving the principles that define our vision and purpose. This means we can be more agile in our approach to the partners we work with and the startups, entrepreneurs and talent we support.

As an independent entity, we have the agency to shape our own identity, culture and strategy that are distinctive and inclusive of all stakeholders, including communities and founders.  We will have our own dedicated board of members who embody the values of OneTech and effectively represent the diverse communities we serve. More details on how to join our mission and become a board member can be found here

We have some exciting plans in the works over the next few months and years, so stay tuned for further announcements. We want to increase our focus on inclusion – going beyond diversity to ensure businesses create cultures where everyone feels safe, welcome, and encouraged to contribute. We want to expand the reach of our programmes into new communities outside London, where entrepreneurs face many of the same barriers. In time, we also want to expand the range of our programmes and products, broadening the support we provide.

We’re also excited to be continuing our partnership with JP Morgan after the spinout. This partnership will consist of programmes like Side Hustle School and Build An App in 8 Weeks for early stage founders as well as Bootstrap School and Funding Readiness for founders who are further ahead.

“It is with immense pride and enthusiasm that we welcome the next exciting chapter for OneTech. This transition represents more than just a graduation - it’s a significant leap forward for an organisation that is deeply committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse startup ecosystem. Capital Enterprise looks forward to continuing to stand with OneTech as they continue to remove barriers for entrepreneurs and increase their reach and impact.” - Darren Balcombe, Deputy CEO at Capital Enterprise

We realise that this is a big step for us, and we want to make sure we’re accountable to our community and to our partners. In that spirit, we’ll be holding a virtual ‘OneTech Town Hall’ on the 25th of May at 12pm, where you’ll be able to ask us about the spinout directly, the details for which can be found here. If for whatever reason you can’t make that event, feel free to ping us an email at info@weareonetech.org and we’ll be happy to answer any queries you may have.

As OneTech steps out from under CE’s wing, I also want to share how immeasurably grateful we are for the support and counsel of the CE board, without whom none of this could have been possible. In particular, we’d be remiss if we did not shout out the OneTech Advisory Board, Capital Enterprise Board, Capital Enterprise Exec Team and wider team for their continued and unwavering support.

Finally, to all of you – thank you so much for being a part of our OneTech community. We wouldn’t have been able to reach this point without the stellar work, and cooperative spirit, of our partners, entrepreneurs, and funders. We’re so excited to be entering on the next phase of this journey with you all, as we scale our impact even further, and help achieve our vision of an inclusive ecosystem where everyone has equal access and opportunity to innovate, succeed and thrive.
